Every October, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta fills the sky above the Los Rios Neighborhood with color and excitement. This photo, taken in 1999, is looking southeast from Rio Arriba. October is a wonderful time in the Rio Grande valley. The aroma of roasting green chile fills the air, the cottonwoods turn yellow in the river bosque, and the crop of New Mexico's own Dixon apples appear in the stores. The days are still warm, but the nights are getting cooler. It is truly an enchanting place to live.
