About the Builder

Terry Iliff has been building custom homes in New Mexico since 1984.
"I started in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I pooled all my resources into getting my contractor's license and some promising land on which to build. I had enough money left over to buy a wheelbarrow." She successfully built and sold several homes in the area. She took on a partner, and together they started a successful contracting company. The partnership became a marriage and two daughters, so Terry moved to the Albuquerque area, where she continued to build quality homes.

“My company is a small one,” says Terry. "I am involved for the entire project, from drawing the plans to vacuuming the floors. I have worked that way for over twenty years. When your home is under construction, I am there every day. I usually work with the same high-quality subcontractors, and I know the owners and their crews. I do everything possible to keep within your budget. Because I am there on the job, I coordinate the subs to maximize their time and prevent waste. You can contact me any time and I will know the status of your home, what the next step is, and also provide suggestions and improvements as the job progresses.”

Terry and her husband live in a home she designed and built in Rio Rancho. Their home is in the Los Rios neighborhood where she has several build to suit lots available. “I can walk to most of the properties available. I am there every day, making sure the job is on schedule.”

Terry is also committed to building energy efficient homes. “New Mexico is an excellent location for green choices, including solar and alternative energy. The cost of these systems is coming down. It is far more economical to build these systems into new construction than retro-fitting an existing home,” says the builder. All successful contractors must work closely with their owners. Terry, however, takes the owner's wishes very seriously. The best homes reflect the owners style and sensibility. “If you have a mantelpiece from Spain, we will work to incorporate it artistically and safely into your home. Since I always draw my own plans, special requests are taken into consideration from the beginning of the building process.”

Terry graduated from the University of Arizona in 1978 and has a Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
